It focused on the councillors’ opinion on different issues closely related to local economic development. In addition, the importance of decentralization for local economic development was analyzed. Therefore the project investigated if decentralization was a prerequisite for local economic development and if further decentralization of public functions would lead to stronger position of counties in coordination of local economic development. Furthermore, the importance of different councillors’ tasks was analyzed and specifically the importance of councillors’ involvement in coordination of local economic development.
