Summary
We analyzed the scope of influence of local state-society networks on local development in European countries. We investigated the two-way impact, thus looking at how much the local government supported different local state-society networks, but also the scope of impact of different members in the local state-society networks on local development. The research was based on the results of the conducted survey across European countries, and therefore the subjective perceptions of different local stakeholders were observed. Special attention was placed on the analysis of the views of stakeholders from those local state-society networks that play an important role in the implementation of European policies at the local level and in reducing the disparities in local economic development.

The result of this international research was an edited volume "Perspectives on Local Governance Across Europe", edited by Björn Egner (Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany), Hubert Heinelt (Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany), Jakub Lysek (Palacký University Olomouc, The Czech Republic), Patricia Silva (University of Aveiro, Portugal) and Filipe Teles (University of Aveiro, Portugal). The edited volume was published by Palgrave, as part of the series "Palgrave Studies in Sub-National Governance".
