Summary:
Project goals: To explore the causes of the weakness of the cooperative economy in Croatia, to assess the potential for its development and give recommendations on which activities and measures to implement so as to fulfil this potential.

Results/outputs:

  • Analysis of the collaborative economy in Croatia
  • Comparative analysis of the legal framework pertaining to cooperatives in Croatia and selected EU countries
  • An overview of the contemporary initiatives and developments regarding collaborative economy in the EU
  • Recommended measures and activities aimed at developing collaborative economy in Croatia
Activities:
  • The analysis of the available micro data on cooperatives (using the FINA database)
  • The analysis of the size and importance of the cooperative economy in Croatia and the EU (using data of the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts and international associations of cooperatives)
  • The analysis of the relevant legal and institutional framework in five selected countries (Italy, Spain, France, Austria, and Denmark)
  • Conversations with participants
Methodology:
  • Using micro-level data (balance sheet, P&L account) to analyze the performance of the collaborative economy
  • Descriptive analysis based on other available national and international data sources
  • Interviews and expert assessment
