Survey on privacy and surveillance

Commissioned by: The Institute of Economics, Zagreb
Project duration: 2011 – 2013
Project manager: Jelena Budak, PhD

Brief outline:
Survey on privacy issues and surveillance was launched to collect a database that would enable the researchers of the Institute of Economics, Zagreb to explore this topic in the Western Balkans region. In relation to the worldwide literature on surveillance, there had been no such research available for the region. The phone interviews were conducted in Croatia and Serbia and the project was extended with the survey in BiH and FYR of Macedonia. It consisted of about 60 questions examining the public opinion on privacy and surveillance. The collected data enabled the comparative research on public attitudes towards privacy, data protection and surveillance, and consumers concerns about these issues.
