PENSIONS AND AGEING

In the context of demographic ageing and a rapidly worsening ratio of workers to pensioners, Croatia faces many challenges with regard to developing a pension system which meets the criteria both financial sustainability and pension adequacy. This research field addresses these challenges through work that addresses pension projections in terms of different reform scenarios.

Research in the field of Pensions and ageing revolves around pension trends in Croatia in a comparative perspective. The relationship between the pension system and the labor market is addressed in terms of the problems and possibilities of extending the working age in a labor market in which older workers are at a higher risk of being unemployed. Recent work has focused on the importance of promoting pension literacy amongst all cohorts of the population.
